What is the tool?
The tool I used to help create a classroom management piece was bloomz. Bloomz is a tech that allows you to combine a variety of different tools to help manage, organize, and better your classroom. Bloomz includes a variety of different tools like behavior tracker, attendance, communication with parents, student portfolios, among others. It is really helpful to any teacher because it helps ease the stresses of balancing tasks puts it into one places, where everything is accessible and organized. The process of getting a bloomz account is very simple and free. There are videos and tutorials to help with creating it as well.
Which Danielson Domain does it help with?
Bloomz really aids with Danielson Domain 2: classroom environment. The sub-domains are creating an environment of respect and rapport, establishing a culture for learning, managing classroom procedures, managing student behavior, and organizing physical space. A lot of stress and struggle can come with trying to implement and manage all of these. Bloomz is such an amazing tool because it provides a solution and help to these sub-domains. Specifically, it is really helpful with managing student behavior. Bloomz provides a whole section provided to tracking student behaviors throughout the day. You can add not only negative behaviors but positive ones as well. It also allows to create team points for it students are working on group projects or the class incorporates teams in the routine of the class. Not only tool help manage the behavior, but it allows the students to be motivated and they can actually see and visualize their behaviors.
What did I enjoy about creating a bloomz?
I really loved that bloomz is a real tool that I can use in my future classroom. Not only is the tool practical, but it is accessible and organized, as well. This a tool that I can see myself using. The process of creating my personal account was enjoyable and really helpful to me; I was able to picture and think about my future classroom in ways that I had never done before. It really allows and forces you to picture how you would use the tools while also giving you the freedom to create and use your imagination. I also like the ease of the process, and it is not hard to use at all. That is something that is valuable when I am teaching: having an easy-to-use app.
How can I use this tool in my future classroom?
There are so many applicable parts of bloomz. In my future classroom, I definitely plan on using it. The behavioral part of bloomz will definitely be helpful in trying to talk to students and parents as well on what they need to improve, while also potentially giving them some intrinsic motivation. I also think that is so helpful that the tool allows for communication with in different ways. One of my favorites is the fact that you are able to create a personal portfolio for each student, and you can share those with parents in parent-teacher conferences; they can also see student work from home. I also like how you can send out notifications of needs in the classroom to parents and how much of what you need, and parents can sign up virtually. All of these tool really save time and effort, so that we as teachers can better our students success.
How does this relate to what I have learned in my Educational Psychology class?
In my educational psychology class, we have discussed how Davis' research supports positive teacher relationships. The best way to help build up students and meet their needs is to build relationships with them not just academically but personally as well. This allows to help start out those relationships; you can use the portfolios to help get to know them personally. If you are also able to build a relationship with your students, it is easier to help make their learning experience meaningful, plus they will be more interested in the topic you teach.
