Domain 4 is about professional responsibilities. While much of what we do as teachers are focused on in the classroom, Domain 4 is about going beyond the classroom. By building relationships with families, establishing relationships with colleagues, finding ways to get involved, reflecting on practices, furthering your education, and being professional, you are able to continue your growth and development, as a teacher. It is very important that as a teacher you a present in the world beyond the classroom because it helps build new relationships with students, gives you a new perspective to teaching, allows for students to learn from you, and you are better able to lift students to success and meet their needs. It is also important that you are involved in students non-academic lives, like with sports, music, and other interests, so that they can see you as a person, not just a robot in the classroom; these can also lead to you sponsoring and being involved in school clubs, initiatives, and projects that help students to learn and grow, too.

Domain 4 is a wonderful way to continue learning and growing in the field. In my relations, contact, and observations of teachers in the field, there is one that stands out to me. This teacher strives to be involved with her students beyond the classroom. She finds different ways to be involved in their activities and interests by going to school events. She also tries to participate in different after-school groups. She values that time to build relationships with students. This teacher also strives to continue her growth and learning; she attends different conferences, professional development events, and be involved with her colleagues and PLN. Some ways to continues to be involved are Twitter, attend ed camps, and go to different professional organization events. Her goal throughout her professional dealings, she is always striving to better herself so that she can best provide tools and instruction to her students, in a way that best propels them on-ward to their best success and learning.
