What is Google Forms?
Google Forms is a tool through Google Suites that allows for the creation of forms that can be used as tests, surveys, quizzes, among other uses. Google Forms allows for these different tasks to be completed all in one, easy-to-use place. Not only does it allow for creation, it also allows for grading and viewing of missed answers and responses. This tool can be implemented in so many ways, not just for grading; for example, student interest surveys or feedback on how to improve or implement motivation in the class. Regardless of purpose, Google Forms is a great tool to use in class.
How to create one?
Creating a Google Form is really simple; all that is required is a Google account. There are also more than just Google Forms available through the Google Suite as well. There are many different options available when creating a Google Form; there are multiple choice, short answer response, paragraph response, check boxes, scales, among other choices. You can also insert or embed pictures or videos to help enhance the learning and variety in the form. If you are creating a longer form, there are also sections that can be added to help add description and clarity in the tasks. As a whole, the options are endless and it is very easy to create and design what ever your need is.
Application to Component 1f?
Google Forms is a great tool to help with implementing component 1f of Danielson's framework: designing student assessments. As teachers, we need to be able to design assessments that are applicable to the course, easy to use, and allow for students to best demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. Not only does it allow for creation and design of assessments but it does it through technologies to help make the process better and easier. As teachers, if we do not have assessments that allow for students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding, then we must re-evaluate our assessments and approach; with Google Forms we can not only design better assessments but discover from students how to make them better and truly worth-while for students. This can be accomplished through the from itself with surveys. Regardless of use, Google Forms is a great technology tool to help with Domain 1f.
Artifact reflection
How can I use Google Forms in my classroom? When I am teaching, I will be able to use Google Forms to help with designing assessments for students; not only does help with the process, it also makes it enjoyable, in my opinion. I can use Google Forms in so many different ways; maybe I am trying to figure out what my students like, or what they want to learn about next, or what they need help with, among so many other things. Google Forms is a great tool to use in any classroom, and I will be sure to make use of it in mine.
What did I like about creating a Google Form? I really enjoyed the process of making a Google Form; it not only was fun but it allowed me to think about how I would want to word questions and what my goal is by making the assessment. It was beneficial to me because it forced me to think about how I would want to design future assessments, as well as make them applicable to diverse learners. I think that Google Forms is a great tool that appeals to diverse learners because of the different options that are available. I can really personalize and design the form based on how and what my students need.
How does it relate to the SAMR model? Google Forms is a great tool to help with using the SAMR model; you are taking what could be a regular test or survey and replacing it with a technology that not only does the same thing but better. Google Forms allows for the best chance for student success and learning. It is one thing to make a test using technology, but it is another to have one that truly makes it worth-while. With Google Forms, the assessments can truly be geared to many learners and really allows for the enhancement of the assessments or surveys that otherwise would not be available to me as a teacher if I were not using Google Forms.
